For a longtime I really wanted to become a freelancer. The idea of being a virtual assistant and work at the comfort of your own home away from the busy world makes me excited. I envy the people I see on the social media that can afford to go everywhere and anytime they want without thinking if they can still afford to file another leave. I thought being a virtual assistant was easy but I was wrong because I was met with different difficulties when I tried to be a Freelancer.
DIFFICULTIES IN BEING A NEWBIE FREELANCER
Being an employee is very challenging, there is the challenging commute to and from your workplace and the company dramas (palakasan, bully boss and many more). That pushed me to think of a way to escape the employee world by trying to be a freelance virtual assistant. I tried applying on different site that hire a virtual assistant but to my dismay nobody want to hire me.
Inexperience
Like in the real world most client always wants to hire a virtual assistant who are already skilled and already proven something in this field. It was easy to hire someone who already knew and has experience on this field than waste time and money on training someone.
Scams
Yes, there are also people who trick other newbie freelancer on promising a virtual assistant job in exchange of a fee. By the end of the day it is you who are paying them to do the work and not them.
Lack of Skills
Due to lack skills in the area even if you land a job in the freelance world it will be difficult to accomplish the task if you don’t know what to do and who to ask. Like lacking experience, clients want to hire virtual assistant who has the proper skill set for the job.
LEARNING NEW SKILLS
By experiencing the above the difficulties in being a freelancer I almost lost all hope until I find the site of Filipino Virtual Assistance. I enrolled to their Freelancing Course and learned the basic skills to set you up in the freelancing world. I’m still taking my course and planning on finishing it until the end. I’m still on the process of improving my skills but unlike before I felt more confident in applying and taking freelancing jobs.
APPLYING MY SKILLS
I may be new in this field but I’m confident enough that I can provide the expectation you want on every virtual assistance task. If you need help to your virtual assistance job and want to hire someone you can contact me at norie.jumaquio@gmail.com.
